MicroOncology Ltd was re-branded as Creo Medical Ltd. in 2010, the name change recognising the organisation's desire and ability to take its core expertise into indications other than Oncology.
Building upon the success of MicroOncology Ltd. that resulted in three awards for Research and Development innovation in 2003,2006 and 2008, Creo Medical Ltd. has maintained the track record by gaining a SBRI award in 2010 to develop non thermal plasma technology in an application to help in hospital hand hygiene, (HandiPlasmaTM).
Creo Medical Ltd. has also secured a second round of funding from its core investors to progress microwave and radio frequency technology for precise tissue resection and modulation. CRoMa System 1TM utilises a microwave energy source that operates in Band C of the microwave spectrum and combines it with Radio Frequency energy to enable very precise tissue effects to be created with a range of Bipolar instruments. These are used in combination with a flexible endoscope for the precise resection of tumours and tissue abnormalities of the Gastro Intestinal Tract.
The company operates out of its laboratory and office facilities located to the South of Bath, in the South West of England, where it has state of the art microwave test and measurement equipment, enabling novel development work to be undertaken. It also enjoys interaction with key departments at several leading Universities that accommodate microbiological testing, study of the chemical species associated with non thermal plasma, microwave modelling and clinical studies.
