The CRoMa System 1 (Creo Medical RF overlayed with Microwave augmentation) is comprised of a Bipolar RF and Band C microwave generator to produce combined and separate RF and Microwave outputs. This is developed together with specialist flexible applicators. RadSpat is for delicate resection of sub mucosal tumours, and PreSect is a device for resection of Polyps and the modification of tissues in the GI tract.
The development, initially funded by a successful National Institute for Health Research Invention for Innovation (i4i) application, will help in the treatment of patients who have abnormalities found during examination of the GI tract by flexible endoscopy. Improvements being made to colorectal screening programmes in the UK and Internationally will help to increase the number of patients whose disease is caught earlier. The development is highlighted in the National Institute for Health Research Annual Report 2009/10:

The RadSpat applicator is specifically designed for sub mucosal resection, and is the result of liaison with a leading UK clinical department. As such, it represents the state of the art device, combining excellence in design with ultimate ease of use. The RadSpat offers precise resection capability due to the sophisticated BiPolar RF waveforms developed by CreoMedical's engineers, and perfectly complements the advanced composition of the tip of the instrument. Not only does the flexible device shield tissue from unwanted contact with the cutting area, it also offers a suction irrigation channel that can be utilised to inject the target tissue with expanding agents such as saline or hyaluronic acid. The RadSpat is compatible with the working channels found in popular flexible endoscopes.
Further development includes the PreSect applicator, a device for the removal of polyps that are difficult to treat with standard products and to deal with other irregularities of tissue in the GI tract. It is also intended to extend the technology to single port laparoscopy and NOTES devices.
